My name is Meredith Helms. I have lived in the Beaufort area since 1996.

I began my insurance career in Charleston South Carolina, where I grew up. My first job working in the insurance industry was in 1988 with State Farm. I learned so much and knew that I had found my "nitch". Working directly with people and their needs is exactly what I believe I was meant to do.

In 1996,1 was offered a position with Lowcountry Insurance Services as a producer. It took a while for me to decide to make the move to this beautiful town. I had never worked in the independent insurance world before and realized quickly that I had a major task before me. The words, the language, the rules and guidelines were all so Greek to me. My best friend in the world told me, "you can do this; this is what you were meant to do". So I decided to work as hard as I could, listen, watch and ask as many questions as possible. My answers and responses sometimes did not make a lot of sense to me, but I put in the tune, educating myself and made sure I understood the principals of insurance. In time all the knowledge feel into place and now 20 years later, I could not imagine doing anything else.

Companies have come and gone, restricted my ability to write, cancelled coverage and just pulled out of the state. Lowcountry Insurance Services is a full service insurance agency with strong personal lines, commercial, life and health departments, which I am proud to say, I can write it all.
